DISCUSSION: The Value of the Arts to Community Wellness and Prosperity:
Participants will consult in small groups about the value of the performing arts in Nunavut with respect to:
• The Economy
• The Social Well Being of the Community
• The Individual (Child, Youth, Adult, Elder)
• The Language
• The Culture
1:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. YOUTH MENTORSHIP WORKSHOPS: Iqaluit Schools
Youth participate in workshops by visiting artists.
7:00 p.m.: COLLABORATIVE PERFORMANCE REHEARSALS: Francophone Centre
Wednesday, February 13

DISCUSSION: THE NEEDS OF PERFORMING ARTISTS: Small Groups
Participants will consult in small groups about the needs of performing artists based on genre:
• Theatre
• Music
• Dance
• Film
DISCUSSION: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF PERFORMING ARTISTS: PANEL DISCUSSION
What are the training and development needs of performing artists in Nunavut?

Thursday, Feb. 14:

DISCUSSION: A NUNAVUT PERFORMING ARTS & CULTURE CENTRE
Panelists will present ideas and thoughts on the rationale, purpose, design and function of a Nunavut Performing Arts & Culture Centre.
1:00 -3:00 p.m. DRESS REHEARSAL: Location TBA
5:00: Pot luck dinner: TBA
7:00 Tigliqtuq/My Heart Beats, open to public
The performance is televised for later broadcast by ISUMA
Friday, February 15
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The Frobisher Inn, Baffin Room
Drum & Song Ceremony: All performers and participants in the workshop participate will
participate in the drum & song ceremony.
SUMMATIVE CONCLUSION: The facilitators will present the results of the consultations and consensus will be reached on the value of the Nunavut performing arts to Nunavut, Canada and the world.
