Tuesday, March 22, 2022– IQALUIT (Canada) – Six Nunavut Drum Dancers are travelling to Nuuk, Greenland for “Katuarpalaaq”, Katuaq Cultural Centre’s Drum Dance Festival
ᐊᐃᑉᐱᖅ, ᒫᔅᓯ 22, 2022 ᐃᖃᓗᓐᓂ (ᑲᓇᑕᒥ) – ᐱᖓᓲᔪᖅᑐᑦ ᕿᓚᐅᔾᔭᖅᑏᑦ ᓅᒃᒧᑦ ᑲᓛᓰᑦ ᓄᓈᓐᓄᑦ ᐊᐅᓪᓚᖅᐳᑦ “ᑲᑐᐊᖅᐸᓛᖅ” ᑲᑎᒪᓂᖓᓄᑦ, ᑲᑐᐊᖅ ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᑐᖃᕐᒥᓂᒃ ᓄᐃᓴᑎᑦᑎᕕᖓᑦ ᕿᓚᐅᔾᔭᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᑕᐅᑐᕋᓐᓈᑎᑦᑎᓂᖓᓄᑦ
A group of six Nunavut artists will give presentations for the seminar where they will talk about how to use the drum for dancing. The seminars will have a mix of presentations, discussions and teachings. A public workshop where the citizens of Nuuk can learn how to drum dance from the Nunavut team.
ᐱᖓᓲᔪᖅᑐᑦ ᓄᓇᕘᕐᒥᐅᑕᐃᑦ ᕿᓚᐅᔾᔭᖅᑏᑦ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᑎᑦᑎᖃᑦᑕᓂᐊᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᓂᕐᓂᒃ ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖃᕐᓗᑎᒃ ᖃᓄᖅ ᕿᓚᐅᔾᔭᓲᖑᒻᒪᖔᑕ ᓄᓇᕘᕐᒥᐅᑦ. ᐅᓂᒃᑳᕐᕕᖃᖅᑎᑕᐅᖃᑦᑕᕐᓗᑎᒃ, ᐅᖃᖃᑎᒌᓐᓂᕐᒥᓪᓗ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᑎᑦᑎᓂᕐᒥᓪᓗ. ᐃᓄᑐᐃᓐᓇᕐᓂᒃ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᑎᑦᑎᓂᖃᕐᓂᐊᕐᒥᔪᑦ ᓄᓇᓕᒻᒥ ᓅᒃᒥᐅᑦ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᖁᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᖃᓄᖅ ᕿᓚᐅᔾᔭᖅᑐᖃᓲᖑᒻᒪᖔᖅ ᓄᓇᕘᕐᒥᐅᑕᕐᓂᒃ.
The festival runs March 21st to 25th. Each country will have a day representing their traditions, drum dances and Pisiit songs. March 24th will feature the Nunavut artists workshop. On Friday 25th of March, they will perform at the final public Katuarpalaaq show in Katuaq’s big theatre hall.
ᑕᐅᑐᕋᓐᓈᑎᑦᑎᓂᖅ ᒫᔅᓯ 21ᒥ 25ᒨᖓᔪᖅ. ᓄᓇᓕᕐᔪᐊᒥᐅᑕᐃᑦ ᐅᓪᓗᓕᒫᖅ ᓄᐃᓴᑎᑦᑎᓂᖃᓛᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᑐᖃᕐᒥᓂᒃ, ᕿᓚᐅᔾᔭᕈᓯᕐᒥᓂᒃ ᐱᓯᖅᓱᓂᕐᒥᓪᓗ. ᒫᔅᓯ 24ᖑᓕᖅᑲᑦ ᓄᓇᕘᒦᖔᖅᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᓄᐃᓴᑎᑦᑎᓂᖃᖅᑎᑕᐅᓛᖅᑐᑦ. ᑕᓪᓕᒥᕐᒥ ᒫᓯ 25ᒥ, ᑕᐅᑐᕋᓐᓈᖅᑎᑦᑎᓛᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᓄᓕᒫᓄᑦ ᓄᖅᑲᕈᓯᕐᓗᑎᒃ ᑲᑐᐊᖅᐸᓛᖅ ᓄᐃᓴᑎᑦᑎᓂᖃᓕᖅᑲᑕ ᑲᑐᐊᑉ ᑕᐅᑐᕋᓐᓈᕐᕕᐊᓗᐊᓂ.
Qaggiavuut is honoured to have sponsored the training of six Drum dance and Pisiit artists to go to Greenland to teach our Culture of Performance.

Qaggiavuut is a non-profit society dedicated to strengthening Nunavut's performing arts community. A major goal of the Qaggiavuut Society is to build the Qaggiq, a performing arts and cultural learning hub in Nunavut.
